Approach

I grew up in and out of my father's darkrooms, which is where most of this started. Eighteen years later the practice covers weddings, engagements, portraits, restaurants and commercial work, run out of Boise and taken wherever the job needs going.

Before photography there was advertising, marketing, fine art and makeup artistry, and all four still show up in the work. It is why a restaurant shoot gets thought about like a campaign, and why I can usually see how a face will render before the shutter goes.

What I am after is the same on every job: finding the art in something ordinary, holding onto the fine detail, chasing good light, and building enough trust that people forget the camera is there. Nothing here is heavily arranged. It is mostly waiting, and knowing what is worth waiting for.
